TOURIST PLAN TO BOYACÁ

THIS PLAN INCLUDES

ITINERARY

Blue wells

Its greenish blue that changes with the climate, its contrast between desert and nature, the surrounding pine forest and the tranquility are the main ingredients to make this place one of the most attractive that the Villa has nowadays. Go with the family, take your time, there is parking space and the walk to the 3 wells is not very long from the parking lot. However, wear comfortable shoes and it is more beautiful when the sky is uncovered, if it is cloudy they are not so blue. The color is given by the minerals in the water and bathing is not allowed, the water is not suitable for these activities because of its mineral content.

Los Lanceros del Pantano de Vargas Monument

Monument built in honor of the 14 lancers under the command of Colonel Juan José Rondón. The 133 m high monument was erected on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of independence. This work combines the architectural beauty and sculptural impossibility of the master Rodrigo Arenas Betancur. It is the largest monument in Colombia.

The Salt Cathedral

This underground attraction has received more than 13 million visitors from all over the world. More than 10,000 foreign tourists and some 40,000 Colombians attend it every month. Its structure, a mixture of precise engineering and history was declared the First Wonder of Colombia on February 4, 2007.

Historic Center of Tunja

Colonial sector of the city, declared a national monument. In the sector, you can find the Metropolitan Cathedral Santiago de Tunja along with 13 Hispanic churches, the mansions of the aristocratic personalities of the 16th and 17th centuries, converted into museums.

Main Square of Villa de Leyva

It is one of the best preserved colonial towns. Its historical center, declared a National and Historical Heritage Site, has the largest main square in Colombia and maintains all the original elements of the time, including the church and the cobblestone streets.

Battlefield of Boyacá

It is located south of the city of Tunja. The main structures are the Boyacá Bridge, built over the Teatinos River which replaced the original one; the Bolivarian flag square, the triumphal arch and the perpetual flame as a symbol of freedom.

Tota Lagoon

It is the largest freshwater lake in Colombia and has an area of 44km², is located in the Province of Sugamuxi and is a major tourist attraction.

Thermal waters of Paipa

Paipa has numerous medicinal hot springs around which a significant amount of tourist activity has been generated.

Boyacense Village

Urban complex designed based on various colonial architectural styles of the most beautiful villages in the department. It is located in the city of Duitama.

La Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá

It is a basilica considered one of the most beautiful in the world, where the image of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá rests, which is one of the many invocations with which the figure of the Virgin Mary is venerated in Catholicism. It is also considered by the faithful as the patron saint of the Republic of Colombia. Thousands of pilgrims come to the image not only on the day of its patron saint's day, July 9th, but also every Sunday when masses and processions are held.
